I decided it was time to upgrade my Sony home theater in a box. They were a decent set for the price, but I was looking for something better so I picked up a Harman Kardon AVR-247 and a set of Aperion Audio 7.1 4 Series speakers. I had read some really good reviews from CNET about Aperion Audio, even though I had previously never heard of the company. They are a small company based in Portland, OR. I gave them a call about what I should select and I was able to talk to a real person, not some computerized recording. I don’t mind automated systems, but a lot of the time the computer tries to figure out what you want and fails. In some systems it doesn’t let you call the operator and you are just stuck. With Aperion Audio being a small company, I was able to get to a representative right away and they were very kind and helpful.
I was tired of listening to my laptop speakers when I was using the laptop in my bedroom. I researched a wireless speaker solution and was able to find a good deal on the Apple Airport Express and the Logitech Audiostation Express. The Logitech Audiostation Express had received pretty good reviews and it was reasonably priced. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, as I don’t do too much work on my laptop in that room, but I did want something that was an upgrade to the built-speakers.
I decided to upgrade to a new set of Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speaker system. I had previously used Altec Lansing and Creative branded speakers, but I had read some great reviews about the Logitech models. They seem to offer a lot of value at the price points. A few of my friends really liked their sets so I decided to pick one up myself. I didn’t need a 5.1 setup. All the audio or video that would offer 5.1 I would use with my home entertainment unit anyway. This set was to be used only for music in my office.
Plug and Play speaker system that rocks with any Mac you may own. I can crank up my iTunes or streaming audio and hear quality sounds through the speakers. SoundSticks II has a new computer-optimized multi-band parametric equalization and Harman’s unique “capacitance touch” control buttons on the right satellite allow for direct access to volume control. The speakers adjust forwards and backwards to have the sounds point in any direction. If you are looking for good quality and an affordable price – look no further.
