Netgear WPN824

I was interested in setting up a new wireless network in my home. I run a couple of servers out of my home, which run this site as well as a few others. I have tried products by Linksys, D-Link, and Netgear and for the most part networking products for the home have much improved in ease of use as well as performance. Technology has come a long way and setting up a wireless network in your home has become very reasonably priced. With better security and speed there is almost no reason not to use a wireless network over a wired. This statement can be argued of course and I can see an argument for both sides, but for most people a wireless network is sufficient for ones needs. I’ve been pretty happy with Netgear’s products and I was looking for an Ethernet wireless bridge and a main wireless base station. I use the Netgear WGPS606 for my living room to connect my Mac Mini, cable box, and hopefully a game system in the near future. For my main base station I chose the Netgear WPN824 RangeMax Wireless Router. This router has suited my needs very well.

Dension IceLink

So you have your iPod and it works great, except when it comes to listening in your car. Maybe you picked up an FM modulator and that works somewhat well, except in large cities where it is almost impossible to get a clear station. If your car still has a tape deck maybe you have a mini-jack to tape adapter, which actually works fairly decently especially for 20 or so dollars it costs. Unfortunately if with both of those methods a point comes when the iPod runs out of juice and you have to charge it. Also both of those methods require access to the iPod to control your music selection. The Dension iceLink solves all of these problems.

Samsung HL-R4667W

I had moved to a new place and figured I would treat myself to a digital TV. In my area there is decent over the air HDTV reception, but I opted to order the HDTV premium channel package from my cable provider Comcast. I looked at LCD, Plasma and DLP sets. I read the myths and listened to the stories that sales people told me. It was hard work. After doing tons of research I still wasn’t quite sure which set I wanted. Sure LCD and Plasma sets looks cool and everyone on Cribs always has them hanging on their walls, but for how much I was willing to pay and the value I was getting it didn’t seem too practical for me. As far as picture quality for the price I felt that it seemed lacking compared to the DLP. Sure the DLP set was a lot bigger, but much smaller than a conventional set and space wasn’t too much of a concern for me. I really appreciate Samsung as a brand, whether it’s a DVD player to computer RAM to a cell phone to a computer monitor, I have always been pretty happy with their products. After looking at a few sets at my local electronic stores I was sold on the Samsung HL-R4667W.
