Logitech Z-2300

I decided to upgrade to a new set of Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speaker system. I had previously used Altec Lansing and Creative branded speakers, but I had read some great reviews about the Logitech models. They seem to offer a lot of value at the price points. A few of my friends really liked their sets so I decided to pick one up myself. I didn’t need a 5.1 setup. All the audio or video that would offer 5.1 I would use with my home entertainment unit anyway. This set was to be used only for music in my office.
I decided to go with Logitech’s highest end. I was impressed that it was THX certified. The models I had listened to in the stores really didn’t offer as much power or the certification at the same price point. It was really between three 2.1 setups, one from Klipsch, one from Creative, and the Z-2300s.
Since I had some great recommendations and reviews to go by I decided to go with the Logitechs. The style goes really well with my Viewsonic VX2025VM monitor as well so they are a good fit together.
The Logitech Z-2300 speakers come in nice and clear. Actually they are a little loud for my taste. I used to like listening to my music really loud, but have learned to listen at more moderate volume levels. Even at low volumes it sounds good. I actually seem to like the sound of them without the grills. There is a subtle difference but it could just be my ears playing tricks on me.
I’ve listened to quite a few different music varieties and videos through the system and they sound pretty good.
Some people think Logitech tends to be a little bass heavy, but I like listening to my music with a lot of bass so it doesn’t bother me at all. For those that don’t like as much bass, there is a control on the wired remote to adjust it.
What would have been a little nicer is if the wiring was just a little longer. It’s not too much of a big deal. I can put extensions on the wiring if I need it. I guess that was something nice about the Creative sets I had used. They had standard speaker wire to connect the units. I guess it might differ with 5.1 units and 2.1 units. I’m not sure.
Overall, I’m pretty happy. Those that have the same set seem to be pretty happy as well. I would recommend them to someone looking to spend under $200 on a speaker set. They are well worth the money. I’m glad I purchased the Logitech Z-2300s.
