Booq Mamba Saddle

When I’m out traveling for an extended period of time, I need a bag that will hold all the gear I use to create my office away from the office.  I’ve used Booq’s products for a number of my machines now and I’ve been really happy with every purchase I’ve made with them.  They’re always made very well in my opinion and each bag seemed to be well thought out.  Booq bags are slightly pricer than some of the competitors, but I think the quality justifies this difference.

So when I make an attempt to create my office away from the office I pack quite a few things.  First I bring two laptops: a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air.  This handles all my testing and programming environments for Windows and Mac OS X.  I also pack my iPhone, digital camera, DS Lite, Apple Remote, and Mighty Mouse.  Other than that I just bring all the appropriate cables and chargers and probably a few pens, papers, screen cleaner, and maybe a book.  This isn’t a lot of stuff, but it’s a decent amount of items so I need a bag that’s big enough to hold all of it, but not too overly big.  I chose the Booq Mamba Saddle because it has a lot of cargo room.

When I received the bag it seemed to be just as well made as my other Booq products.  The Booq Mamba Saddle is one of products in their cheapest lineup.  The bag had a lot of pockets and relatively light when empty.  This is one of the important things I find when choosing a bag.  If it seems heavy to you without anything in it, it’s not going to seem a whole lot heavier once you load it up.

The side pockets are very convenient for holding small items.  My cleaning cloths, USB flash drive, Apple Remote, and pens all fit quite nice in the small pockets.  I also sometimes put my iPhone in there for easy access.  The front and back nylon pouches are nice for things like boarding passes and miscellaneous papers I’ll need when going to the airport or checking into the hotel, etc.  The main compartment is quite large.  It holds my Macbook Pro in the main laptop compartment and I put my Macbook Air in what I think is probably a document holder.  It fits nice in there so it works for me.  There are three large elastic pouches that I put the mouse, camera, and DS Lite in.  It also came with a pouch for small cables and there is a large zip up pouch I put things like power cables in.  The main compartment expands out like an accordion where I usually put a surge protector and over the ear headphones.  I’ve found that I can put quite a few documents, books, and software or any mixture of items.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the bag.  I like using it for longer traveling where I need everything.  For day or couple day trips I usually pack lighter.  I only need one computer then and don’t really need the extras just to keep me busy.  I’m satisfied again with another Booq product.
